Hair Loss

Alopecia is a clinical term used to describe hair loss on the head or body. It can be caused by certain illnesses, medications or lifestyle factors, but the most widespread type of alopecia is the genetic disorder male pattern baldness. This condition affects up to half of men by the age of 50, and it often begins in the late twenties. It is identifiable by a receding of the hairline followed by a thinning on top of the head. In some cases, it progresses to total baldness. Although this condition is not a health concern, it can cause embarrassment and make people feel self-conscious about their appearance. For this reason, many sufferers are keen to find effective treatments.

The various forms of alopecia have different causes. In the case of male pattern hair loss, the trigger is hereditary and it can be passed down from both the mother and father’s side of the family. This genetic condition causes testosterone to be converted into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that can have a harmful effect on follicles. The damage caused by DHT can slow or stop the production of hair.

Unfortunately, my experience with Smart Chemist was less than ideal. The product I received was near its expiration date, which was disappointing. I contacted customer service, and while they offered a replacement, it was an inconvenience. I appreciate the customer service response, but I think more attention needs to be paid to product quality control
